I have a Toshiba HDTD210XS3e1 Canvio Slim II Portable Hard Drive 1tb. It shows on my computer under USB drives and says it is working ok. But when I plug it into the computer the PASSWORD screen log in box does not come up so I can sign and open my files. It also does not show under my file explorer where it was listed as f drive. I have an Acer Aspire Computer with a Celeron CPU, 2 GHz, 4 GB ram, 64 bit, with windows 10 home. I have tried Toshiba site for drivers it only shows me one for a Mac OSX. Lol.I have talked to Toshiba for about an hour they said it was because of your last update and they are right it stopped working about two hours after the update and even after taking that update off it still does not work. They 'Toshiba' said it was becauseyou at Microsoft did not send them the info they needed to build a workaround for the new windows 10 updater so they could build a patch.

Hi David,You may be experiencing the problem regarding your portable hard drive due to a compatibility issue. To resolve that, we suggest that you completely uninstall the drivers for the device and restart your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driverafter doing that.
To uninstall the drivers, refer to the following steps:. Open Device Manager.
Right-click on the driver that needs to be uninstalled, then choose Properties. Go to the Driver tab, then select Uninstall. If the issue persists, we recommend that you roll the driver back to its previous version. To do that, you can follow the steps below:.
Open Device Manager. Right-click on the driver that needs to be rolled back, then choose Properties. Go to the Driver tab, then select Roll Back Driver.Update us if the information above addressed your concern. That would be great if windows listed Uninstall Drivers but it does not. It also won't let me roll back the driver. Just lets me look for updates orUninstall Device or Disable it. Nothing more!
I called Toshiba and spoke with them for half an hour they let me know the Problems are 100% with windows 10 updates. And that's when all this started just hours after the last updats it would no longerwork. EVEN AFTER TAKING THE UPDATES OFF. I have used this little hard drive for 3 years 2 with XP and a year with Windows 10. PLEASE GET A FIX FOR THIS THANKS! Hi Ian,The compatibility of a device being used by a user should be taken into consideration as this could cause an issue which may result in the external device not being recognized.
We should also take note that the drivers should not only be updated but theyshould be fully compatible with the latest version of Windows 10 as well. These drivers are available at the manufacturer's end as the drivers are being produced together with the device. Windows 10 can provide generic drivers for some devices but those arenot guaranteed to work on all devices.

The main drivers would still be coming from the manufacturer of the devcie. We suggest contacting the manufacturer of the device to get the latest, fully compatible driver for Windows 10.Regards.
